Missions & Outreach

MISSIONS AT TRINITY CHURCH
 
Hesed House – Our church has been involved with the homeless shelter in Aurora for years. Our ministry includes feeding about 175 people breakfast, lunch and dinner at Hesed House on the fourth Tuesday of the even numbered months. (Six times a year.)   Needs: Person/s to organize this mission and attend bi-annual coordinator meetings at Hesed House. We need donations of food and supplies to feed the guests. We also need people to deliver food to the shelter and working volunteers to cook and serve the meals and assist the staff throughout the 16 hour shift. Check out the sign-up sheets on the bulletin board for specific shift times and duties. Contact Person – Mary Stoner
 
 
Kendall County Food Pantry – This ongoing ministry collects food and supplies from our congregation. They are then delivered to the shelter. Needs: Person/s to publicize the monthly needs and deliver the supplies to the food pantry. Contact Persons – Michelle Metzke and Carrie Stoner
 
 
Kendall County PADS – Our newest mission! This ministry will begin in October. Trinity will be one of seven hosting sites that will offer overnight guests a warm dinner, breakfast, and a sack lunch from Oct 17, 2010 to April 16, 2011. Needs: Volunteers for one night a week on Thursday nights. Volunteers have the option of volunteering for any night of the week at another host church site. We also need donations of food and supplies.   Contact Persons – Deb Croyle, Christina Messersmith and Peg Zbinden
 
 
Noisy Can Sunday - We shake our cans on the first Sunday of every month to generate donations for The World Service Fund through the United Methodist Church. Needs: Person/sto publicize, shake the cans on the first Sunday of every month, collect and count coins. Contact Persons – Marianne Wilkinson, Cindy Metzger, Emily Smith
 
 
 
Souper Bowl Sunday – This is a once a year ministry that collects can goods on Super Bowl Sunday in January/February to be donated to the Kendall County Food Pantry. Needs: Person/s to publicize the event, collect cans and deliver them to the shelter. Contact persons – Emily Smith, Youth Group, Doris Dick
 
 
Crop Walk – This annual event is held to benefit the hungry in our community and throughout the country. This year it will held on Sunday, September 26thNeeds: Person to coordinate the event, attend planning meetings, publicize and collect donations from our church. Contact Persons - Deb Croyle and Kathryn Kunkel
 
 
Shoe Box/Christmas Child Ministry – This mission is held in October-November every year. The goal is to collect supplies to fill shoe boxes to be sent as Christmas gifts to children in war-torn countries throughout the world. Needs: Person/s to coordinate, publicize, collect, organize and send boxes. Contact Persons – Christina Messersmith and Kathryn Kunkel
 
 
Angel Tree – This is an annual event held at the end of November that collects donated Christmas gifts to needy children in our town. This mission works with Kendall County Food Pantry and the Yorkville Junior Women’s Club. Contact Persons – Cari Tennell and Carrie Stoner
 
 
Disaster Relief – Our church works with our United Methodist conference and our community to offer aid after natural disasters. Contact Person – Peg Zbinden and Emily Smith
 
 
Reaching Out – This mission started in April of 2010 working with the Kendall County Food Pantry. The purpose of the mission is to assist people with government forms so they may receive benefits and assistance. Contact persons – Dot Zimmer and Audry Orton
